Continente has long been a household name in Portugal—not just for groceries, but for shaping cultural moments. Over a decade-long partnership with beloved artist Tony Carreira, the brand helped create mass events that became national rituals. But for the 10th anniversary, the challenge was different: how do you bring fans closer than front row? Easy. You put them in the spotlight.

The idea: let users record a duet with Tony Carreira—anywhere, anytime—and maybe even end up singing live with him on stage.

Standard karaoke tech wasnʼt going to cut it. To make a real-time duet work— with perfect sync across thousands of devices—we had to go deeper.

We developed a custom sync engine for video and audio, with real-time alignment via server-side keyframe logic. Native video/audio libraries were built in Swift (iOS) and Java Android) to ensure tight OS-level control. The app itself was built in Flutter, delivering a fast and consistent experience across platforms.

This wasnʼt just a campaign—it was a fully engineered performance system, built to handle fame at scale.

The app climbed to the top of the iOS and Android charts, with over 4,000 karaoke sessions recorded. Media coverage exploded. And fans? They sang their hearts out—with Tony, in real time.
