Grupo LeYa, one of Portugalʼs largest publishing houses, wanted to break new ground with the launch of Clube de LeYtura—the first 100% online book subscription service in the country. The goal: go live in just 1.5 months, ahead of Lisbonʼs Annual Book Fair (Feira do Livro), and prove that a legacy publishing brand can compete in the subscription economy.

We approached the project like a product sprint—lean, fast, and laser-focused. With only six weeks, we collaborated closely with LeYa to map the entire user journey: from onboarding and subscription flow to book selection and payment. A major challenge was integrating a new recurring payment system MeoWallet) into a seamless UX—something that hadnʼt been done at this scale in Portugalʼs publishing industry.
Despite tight timelines and a first-of-its-kind model, the platform launched on time, with a clean front-end powered by Vue.js and a robust backend that could handle scale from day one.

Clube de LeYtura combines clean design with frictionless conversion. Itʼs a one-stop experience where users discover, subscribe, and receive curated books every month—backed by a smooth payment flow and an interface designed to build trust.
The result? 500 subscriptions in the first month. 1020 in the second. A growth rate that doubled expectations and a platform that scaled under pressure.

The platform was built with Vue.js for the frontend, enabling a snappy, app-like experience. Data was handled through MariaDB, with integration of the MeoWallet API to manage recurring payments—an innovation in the local publishing space. The system was optimized for rapid deployment and future expansion, setting the foundation for LeYaʼs continued digital evolution.
